Covid-19

King John's Morris Men perform Cotswold, North West and Border morris and a mummers' play in and around Southampton, and often further afield, and are actively seeking new members.

We meet on Mondays from 8:00 p.m. between September and April and normally dance out at suitable venues, usually on a Thursday evening, between May and August, and at various other events. From September 2019 our practice venue has been the Scout Hut, 44-50 Brickfield Road, Portswood, Southampton SO17 3AE.

The illustration above and the cartoons at the end of each page are by very talented David Hutchings - one of our resting members.

Given the current pandemic, we have not danced out  since March 2020 nor are we able to hold our usual practices. When practices do recommence, it will be announced here.

  • Contact gives you information on how to contact us
  • Events provides details of where we have been recently and where we will be in the near future. We also usually sing and play after we have danced on a Thursday evening from May to September, and hold and music and song session once a month between September and April.

The draft 2020 programme is now available, but, given the current Covid-19 pandemic, we are unlikely to be able to dance at any of the venues in the next few months.

  • Mumming has information about our mummers' play venues this year, subject, as ever, to unforeseen changes at late notice.

  • About does, we hope, what it says on the tin.
  • News contains anything which could not be found a more suitable home.

  • Rapper Swords explains how to obtain what we think are the best rapper swords in the world.
